The Call of the Drum

Greetings!  Welcome to my rhythmic corner of the Internet!  I’m truly happy you found your way here!  I’m in the process of building this site, so please bear with me.

My name is Bob Werme.  I’m a musician and an ordained UCC minister.  I left “pulpit” ministry in 2000 to provide hospice spiritual services.  During the past decade I have developed and presented programs featuring participatory percussion, movement and music (say that five times fast!).  I’ve presented in churches, community centers, living rooms, health care and convalescent centers, and “assisted living” communities.

Ancient wisdom and modern research are telling us that drumming is a powerful activity to stimulate vitality and health.  Although many of our senior citizens are unfamiliar with drumming as a personal or group practice, I have discovered most take delight in making rhythmic sounds together.  They quickly hear and feel the vibration, what Native Americans refer to as “the heartbeat of Mother Earth”
